Someday Someday by Emma Scott blew me away, definitely one of my all time favs Ella L July 8, 2021 at 5:38 pm You should really read Cut and Run I think you will like it Geoffrey Burnie July 8, 2021 at 5:38 pm From my perspective as a gay man, the big turn-off with this list is that of the 13 books listed only 2 were written by men (presumably gay men), Klune and Suede. All the others were written by straight women which explains why gay romances almost always read like straight romances. One of the blokes is always super butch, taciturn, gruff, but with a heart of gold. The other is usually a whiny, petty individual who is nevertheless super cute or highly handsome in a sort of girly way. These books are really written for the straight female market and bear next to no resemblance to gay life except in the most stereotypical way. What further irks me is that the female authors chose to use male names (Josh Lanyon for example) or ambiguous names (MJ Smith type names), a ploy clearly designed to deceive readers into thinking that the author is a man and probably a gay man. My advice to gay male readers wanting some semblance of authenticity in their romances is to do a Google search on the author before buying. You will be surprised by the number of suburban housewives you discover.
