I recently read ' The Forgotten Home Child' – Genevieve Graham. It deals with the Bernardo children coming to Ontario. Centers mainly between Toronto and Peterborough. A woman in her 90's tells about her being one of those children.

It would be interesting if you did a video on all your favourite WWII London blitz novels. I've read a few myself and some are better than others. My favs are The End of the Affair (audiobook read by Colin Firth) and Kate Atkinson's Life After Life

The book that sent me on a research mission (and basically changed my life) was City of Thieves by David Benioff. Ever since I read it, I've been obsessed with learning about the Russian Revolution, WWII set in the USSR or elsewhere in Eastern Europe, The Cold War, and basically anything to do with the Soviet Union . I'm even learning Russian!

I highly recommend that book, and if anyone has recommendations, go for it!🙂

Kate Morton is one of my all time favorite authors! I have recently read two books by Eve Chase and I’m loving them! They have that same historical, gothic, mystery feel. I need need more authors like this!

Great video. I also like WWII London historical fiction. I’ve really enjoyed the Maisie Dobbs books. Loved The Book Thief.

I was answering the questions along with you. My favorite historical time to read about is also London during the Blitz, plus stories of the children who were evacuated. Have you read Blackout and All Clear by Connie Willis? They are about a group of time travelers (so not strictly historical) who end up trapped in England during WW2. The descriptions of London during the Blitz sent me down a rabbit trail to find out more about it. And I agree about Kate Morton too – an auto buy for sure.

Your answer to No 3 reminded me of a book I read years ago, Doomsday Book by Connie Willis, about the near future where a time traveller travels back to the medieval ages and she experienced a deadly influenza epidemic there, while we also follow the scientists in the present time who is trying to contain a new influenza epidemic that might be caused by their time travel

I picked up a beautiful copy of the book thief and was really enjoying it! Then NZ went into full lockdown and I've been distracted…want to pick it up again soon

Another historical fiction author you might like to try is Australian author Anna Romer. She has 4 books published at this point and she is absolutely captivating!!! A little like Kate Morton. I love all of Anna Romer books ( and all of Kate Morton’s books too! ) 😍📚😁

Susan Meissner's As Bright As Heaven was one of my five star books this year. I don't rate books five stars often, but it was so so good!

I definitely want to read some Kate Morton. I think I'd like to start with The Clockmaker's Daughter. Which is your favourite by her? I'm currently watching Downton Abbey for the first time and I am loving it so much! ☺
