I just read The Only Good Indians and disliked it – STRONGLY. That writing was unnecessary difficult to read but I didn’t understand how the style meshed with the story. Loving the orange twinkly lights✨

I enjoyed The only good Indians. What did you dislike about it. Just curious.

I always like to recommend Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer. It's technically not only horror he considers himself part of the the New Weird genre but it does have horror elements. It's one of my favorite books ever.

There is nothing more satisfying than being the first to read a new release library book 😊📚

Hello fellow Phoenician 👋🏽 if you want a quiet spooky book, Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alam is pretty good. Also, Stephen Graham Jones has a fantastic 30-page ebook called The Night Cyclist.

The Bass Rock is not at all spooky. It is dark in the sense of violence to women. The highlight for me was the characterizations. It’s a spectacular book. One of my very favorites from last year. But if you are thinking of it as October spooky, it isn’t. Don’t want you to be disappointed, but definitely recommend this book!

A very disturbing book is THE GIRL NEXT DOOR by Robert Ketchum. Very good. One of my all time favorite book is SWAN SONG by Robert McCammon. This book is very similar to Stephen King’s book THE STAND, and I actually think I like SWAN SONG better.

I was disappointed by The Only Good Indians as well. Interested to see in a wrap up if you like his new release!
PS, I did NOT vibe with Bass Rock. Almost DNF'ed. But it seems like I'm in the minority.

I recommend The Devil all the Time by Donald Ray Pollack. The story is dark and the writing superb.
