Super ironic that your video is about PG romances and one of your ads is Sold the Royals Series. A series about a princess sold to two princes for her father's debit and she must produce heirs….😳😳🤣🤣

  7. Patricia Davids is one of my go-to buys for Amish Romance novels.

No I wasn’t eating pizza while you were working out. 👀

I love how you addressed the booktube twitter drama that just happened. You were very well spoken and said it perfectly. It’s all about boundaries, and these kind of things shouldn’t be blasted over social media. I agree with finding your own friend group that are in your age range and started the same time as you as well. Even though that can be hard when you first start out because you just want to be a part of the community. It always takes time and patience.

I love seeing your family!! Your boys are adorable! I also didn’t know you were in your thirties! I thought you were in your late twenties. Glad you guys are all doing well and staying healthy!

Southern Bookclub was FANTASTIC!! If you have an issue with bugs, there is a scene that can be triggering. I think you’ll be okay with the child predator aspect. While it’s creepy, it’s different than the traditional child predator content. I hope that makes sense, I don’t want to spoil you. I’m curious to see how you feel about the issue of race within the book. It takes place in the 90’s, and no derogatory language is used, but I think the author did a good job at bringing some race issues from then to light. I cant wait to hear what you think about it.

I really liked Horrorstor by Hendrix, so that book by him sounds really interesting.

Omg. I am not really a traditional romance reader, I enjoy paranormal romance but otherwise I have a hard time. However, I JUST discovered how much I love proper romance! I don’t know whyyy! I read the first 2 Mayfair family books, I can’t wait to get my hands on Rakes and Roses! Also, happy belated birthday 🎁 your family is so adorable.

Also, edit, but I really appreciate your comments on the drama that’s been going on. Very well said! Also, second edit! I read Grady Hendrix’s latest book and LOVED it. The “child predator” section is on the page but I don’t think it’s gratuitous. I’m excited to hear your thoughts!

I have “If I’m Being Honest” on my TBR, I read “Always Never Yours” last month by these 2 authors, and LOVED IT! I can’t wait for the new ones they have coming out. Soo EXCITED! 🥳

Very similar to you! I need to have plot with my romance and some romance is just too smutty.
I’m not Christian, but sometimes I’ll read Christian romance because they are also clean and tend to focus on plot. Sometimes though they are fairly preachy which is probably fine for a Christian but not for me 🙂

I live in a much more rural area (Wisconsin). I’ve been taking my kiddo for rides in the car when we head to the school for the free food pickup or to do curbside/drive thru for food. The change of scenery has been very helpful for him.

I haven't read these but I could see myself trying something similar to them knowing that not all romance is explicit

Now I'm really interested in some of these clean romances. And anything that gives 10 Things I hate about you vibes is a win!

I saw the book twitter drama, and I don't really know what happened, because I'm only a baby booktuber/twitterer but I really appreciate what you said about boundaries. I think that's so important to do when you're involved in an online community. I also feel like I have to do that in my comic con community too. Which is okay. Boundaries are helpful for everyone! And if people want to cross boundaries, then you know they are not the right person to be friends with. Period. But I feel like this is something that I got better at in my 30s then what I really understood in my 20s.
Really enjoying your videos, Bethany (and I'm also a Bethany and a May birthday, ha!) Looking forward to seeing more of your vlogs! 🙂

I enjoyed your vlog. We must have birthdays very close together ( mine is May 8). I am always looking for "clean" romance – I try to avoid explicit sex scenes – so yes, this was very helpful. I will definitely be looking into the Proper Romance line – I am buying two of their books right away. Thank you for doing this

I'm hoping to read my first Wibberley/Siegemund-Broka book soon! and I also find I'm liking the "prickly girl" archetype–especially if it's the feminine, popular girl who actually turns out to have a personality rather than being the generic villain like so often happens. I hope we're starting to move away from the "girl wear makeup = bad" ideas in books!
Definitely going to be checking out those two Proper Romance books! clicked through to their website and realized they had published a book I read last month and really enjoyed which was The Lady and the Highwayman by Sarah M. Eden. I thought it did a great job of blending a cute romance with some more serious social issues of the time period, and getting to read the penny dreadfuls the two main characters were writing was unexpectedly fun. My only complaints were 1) there was an identity reveal I wish had happened earlier, and 2) some of the early chapters really beat you over the head with facts about the time period lol. But that got a lot better as the book went on, and I think it'd be a great one for people just dipping their toes into historical fiction or who maybe aren't as familiar with the time period! (that said though, I read a lot of historical fiction and I ended up really liking it too)
I found this video SUPER helpful! I am really picky about sex scenes and they're often my least favorite scenes in books, but I only recently found out proper romance was a thing and hadn't really figured out yet how to look for more things I'd like. It's nice to know there's still a place for my reading tastes in the romance genre! 😄

I do read Christian historical romance, mostly Americana and WWII settings due to being very burnt out on Regency and Victorian romances. I am not a Christian, but I do like the focus on the relationship apart from the sex, but I need a kiss. A couple of authors I recommend for great Christian historical romances are Jen Turano and Sarah Sundin. I really enjoy your videos and wholly agree on boundaries for both IRL and online relationships.

I have loved Proper Romances since I was a young teen. Living in a super Mormon state, there tends to be a lot of “proper” books. I didn’t mind! I now prefer them to explicit-heavy books!
