yes! this is like my fave dynamic, especially in historicals! love a mischievous heroine. not all of her heroes are strict but joanna shupe’s heroines are pretty consistently mischievous, especially the uptown girls series.
i haven’t read it yet but eva leigh’s waiting for a scot like you fits this trope to a T! it’s also age gap with older heroine/younger man, he’s a stoic soldier and she’s a reckless widow, he’s escorting her to a week long bacchanal AND there’s only one bed!

I read Amanda Quick…i like her writing alot
Her heroin is very adventurous and independent and keep the hero on his toes
