Spoilers make me lose interest in the book. I want to be curious and excited till the end. All that is robbed if I read the ending before I even start reading the book. So, that is a huge no for me. Jay G August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I love how you’ve read the last book in a trilogy TWICE first how do you manage that 😂😂 C Rivera August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm Some of these comments gave me anxiety lol 😳😥 Suz R August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm After nursing school it took a bit to get back into reading as a hobby. So now if I am 50 pages in and don’t like like the book I DNF it. nevaidos August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm Recently I got the book Who is Maud Dixon? from the library because it was recommended to me by booktube but with the warning that you should not read any summaries because they spoil a twist at the halfway point. Tried that, but still failed because the Dutch edition still had that spoiler as a front cover blurb.. WHY?! Phanaberia August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I also avoid spoilers and looking at the last page but… doing that with the books I didn't finish is such a great idea💡😏. ValleyAapo August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm 100% in not wanting read any spoilers. I can’t, I just can’t understand Shannon Sandoval August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm Loved this video! Jenna War August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm Okay so I don't do this, but Riley Marie on booktube has said she doesn't read epilogues and my completionist heart doesn't understand why lol but I am curious if other people skip epilogues/prologues bc I always have to read them to get the full story Jenni Parks August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I have 127 open series and have finally decided that this year and next year I’m not starting any new ones only attempting to close some out. I’d like to get to less than 50 Niji no shita August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I sometimes look up the fate of characters I can't stand because I need them to die, the last two times I did it they actually did die xD made it a hell of a lot easier to continue Salome F August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I'm French but I only read in English and I also pronounce the name of the characters in my head in French! I thought I was alone doing that! RD PA August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm Even though it is not that serious, I find reading the ending of a book without reading the rest so disrespectful. An author takes such a long time to finally build everything and get to the climax for people to just read it just because Definitely don’t like that and don’t understand it. zephyr August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I looked up a summary for Crooked Kingdom because it stressed me out too much but it wasn't helpful at all. I was like… "why… Sugar? What? You're living where…? Where did that person come from?" AnastaciyaSh August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm Yaaas! I vote for a "spoil the books you didn't finish" video! Ruchi Wadhokar August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm No spoilers for me either! I consciously avoid them!! Even while reading reviews I won't read a review that has a spoiler alert in the later half because what if my eyes read the spoiler without my permission 👀 Lukie Primadonna August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I always avoid spoilers, except for my dnf's. That way I know that I'm not missing something Evi Reads Books August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm This was such a fun video! One of my bad habits is taking too long to finish a series 😅 Maggie God August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I'm actually trying to keep up and make a list of all the series I started in my life, I'll be trying the 2nd book of these and seeing which one I'm interested in continuing. 🙂 Fikrat Douk August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I used to sue the authors if they write a good book with horrible ending that extremely annoying. Elizabeth Goble August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm When I was in high school I used to read the last sentence of books before I started them. Milja August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I am definitely using my local library as much as possible. A little bit too much because the books on my own bookshelf are often left on the shelf unread, even tho there is so many interesting books that I really want to read… 😀 I can't really relate to the things mentioned in this video. For example, I usually avoid spoilers as best as I can. But recently I've watched some spoilery booktube videos but it has been my own decision. With fantasy books, for example, I definitely don't do that because fantasy books usually have a lot of action and plot twists. But I would really like to see the video about you spoiling your DNF's! Talita Abreu August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm Pleeeeeease do the spoiler video!!!! Brittany August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I read the second book in the millenium trilogy first, then the first book then the third. 🤦🏻♀️😂 I still really enjoyed the series! It was kind of like reading a weirdly structured book with a book-long flashback to fill in the past. I do want to read it again in order one day since I loved that series. Agree with everyone on the spoiling books you’ve dnf’d video. It’s a great idea! Fine Reads August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm What you said about reading names in French… I do that too, just in German 😂 I read books in English but names, no matter if they are character or city or whatever names, are pronounced in a German way 😂 Kathryn Lynne August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm Why read the book if you already know the big events/end cos of spoilers! My mind boggles – i want the full exoerience of finding out! Hmoobchic22 August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm Yes! That would be a great video! Looking up the spoilers to all the books you DNFed! Thia Reads a Lot August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm Regarding series, I do my best to read series within a calendar year (for completed series). That means I start a lot of series in the first half of the year and spent the rest of the year going through the sequels (if the series is really long, I might read the first 4 or 5 books and continue the next year). If I want to start a new series in the second half of the year, I usually push myself to finish one series first. That way I am not spending too much time in between books that I forget everything. Gen August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I was also spoiled by reading the back of the third Mistborn book, and was so annoyed that there was no suspense while reading the second one 🙁 ButtercupBooks15 August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I did the same with those EXACT editions of Mistborn 🤦♀️ I mean I loved both sequels still but… GAH! Hammished7 August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm Woah….Until recently I always just dug in and finished a book even when I’ve hated every moment. But lately if I can’t get into a book by chapter 2 it’s trashed. And I am a quick reader, but I speed read when I need to get back to the good parts of the story; skipping around would make me anxious, though. On audiobooks, I listen at 1.5-2 times speed anyway, only at normal for science books or narrators with a strange voice affect (not accent, per se). Glad I’m not the only one with shameful reading habits. Assassin's Library August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I'm trying to be better about DNFing books I'm not enjoying, and now that I've heard that some people just skip to the end in those situations I'm wondering why I never thought of that. John Sparegrave August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I actually never ever thought of looking at the end of the books I dnf. Good idea though. Tina Hawley-Blount August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm Hi Emily, I agree hard pass at spoilers. What's the point of reading it then? I too am trying to get better about not feeling guilty about DNFs, great idea about looking up those spoilers. The book Gone Girl was really enjoyable. kara birchfield August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm The only way I watch the adaptation first is if there are a ton of characters! Then I can put a face to a name. Really helps with classics with wordy writing! Romeo and Juliet I know like the back of my hand bcs I was obsessed with the Leonardo DiCaprio movie😂 then in high school became obsessed with the play! kara birchfield August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm How do all these people spoil themselves????? I skip booktube reviews on books im gonna read!!!! Unless its gonna be awhile before I read the book and trust the booktuber to not spoil ANYTHING Kelly Hastings August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I read the last page of ALL books before I start Aidan Reed August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm I would love to see a video of you reading the endings of books you never want to finish! I can’t stand spoilers so I hope you do short summaries of them before spoiling them just in case they sound interesting haha BookswithEmilyFox August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm Can you relate to some of these?
