I’m four months late lol. but I had to explain why I love Rebecca so much. It’s been about two years since I read it for the first time but it still sticks with me. It’s definitely not for everyone but if it is your specific taste, it will hit hard. I love the writing obviously, but I love the themes as well. The narrator not having a name has so much significance in the story and really adds to the feeling of being trapped and feeling suppressed. She grows so much and feels so fleshed out that you feel like she’s a real person. I for one, related to her so much. There’s also something about it that leaves you feeling uneasy and like something is always arching you or around the corner. Not to mention, there’s one main mystery but like 5 mini ones that get explained as well which I loved. The atmosphere, the language, it’s all incredible. I can’t say too much if the plot because even the tiniest bit can give stuff away and it’s important (at least I think) to go into it blind like I did. (Not to mention it’s got one of the best opening lines in a book ever, “Last night, I dreamt I went to Manderly again.”)

Stop demonizing J.K Rowling. She isn’t anti anything or phobic of anything. This demonization should really stop. Seriously,

it’s so heartbreaking to realize that harry potter was such an integral part of my childhood but the author doesn’t think i should exist.

I wonder how the results would change if Required Readings like Frankenstein, 1984, the Great Gatsby, etc. were excluded from the list. I wonder what would be everyone's unexpected favorite for their mandated Required Readings.

Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights are both stunning. If you haven't read it, do so. If you haven't already also dive into Jane Austen. Northanger Abbey, Emma, Pride and Prejudice, and Persuasion are so incredible. If you do read Pride and Prejudice first, make sure to also read Northanger Abbey.

Loved the video 🙂 I would've liked to see my all-time favourite, The Catcher in the Rye, on the list, but, anyway, all of these are great stories, though I haven't read some of them, they definetly entered my "to read" list!
