This is great, so clearly explained. I don't know whether I could ever write Romance, because I'm not prone to happy endings, but your videos almost make me want to. They're also useful already, because I have a strong focus on characters and relationships (family and friends, as well as romantic). 😃💝

THANKS A LOT LISA! I FOLLOWED YOUR ADVICE ON THIS VIDEO AND MY IDEA FOR A NOVEL OF ROMANCE/SCI-FI IS COMING OUT AWESOME. BUT I THINK THE SCI-FI ACTION ADVENTURE PART IS MORE DOMINANT THAN THE ROMANCE PART. BUT EITHER WAY AT LEAST I GOT MYSELF TO BRAINSTORM.

    Choose a Romance Subgenre

    Choose a Romance Trope

    Cast Your Characters

    Choose a Location + Setting

    Meet Cute

Physical Clue – Situation that kees them in close proximity

Conflict – What blocks prevents them from romance (more of an emotional block; not physical)

When will they hit their relationship milestones

    Stranger > Like > Love > You're the one!

    Choose a heat level

    Is this a happily-ever-after or a happily-for-now

(implies there will be marriage? proposal? bf-gf for now?)

Thanks, this was actually useful, I come from writing horror and I'm struggling with romance. I hope I can get to write good passionate love story. By the way, is there any book on romance/erotica story's structure? Hopefully with a list of tropes and common places within the genre. Thank you very much in advance.

Should you write fantasy romance first before writing more difficult genres "been trying to write huge ideas like Ieskai and Dark Fantasy" I love those genres but I widen up bailing on those projects I got manuscripts that never complete, and I am autistic wich writing in English, and speaking it is hard for me. But the strangest thing it's been a while I learn Japanese but it seems I can learn other languages quickly than English especially Japanese and Spanish. That's not the point I just want to have a romance combination just get me starter like a test run series. I have been roleplaying a lot on the media why not write a fantasy romance series based on my one of starter does any writer do that? I am into darker themes I should myself Grimduke instead of Gremlinduke. But, it doesn't I am not into sweet themes.

i can't write like that. part by part. no. it does not work like that for me. to me it's as if I'm watching a movie and taking dictation. NO. I'm not watching movies and re doing them… NO it's all my own work. what I'm coming to you is for. how much sex do you want in it? I've heard that men do not know how to write those segments. trust when I say it's nothing to me. i can do it really easy. i wrote a book before and a few people have bought it. yes I write romance. a lot of people really like it. how many pages should I make it? my last book was about roughly around 300 pages. and for now. i have to find an editor and a publishing company. also. let me ask you this… romance novels do they WANT horror segments in it? i can keep it out . but I just want to know. yes I have to work on my punctuation. but those are the main things I want to know. if you can reply that would be great. thank you for your time.

    #1 Pick a romance Subgenre

#2 Pick a romance trope (not really necessary)

#3 Cast your character (hero, heroine, GMCs- goals, motivations, conflict)

#4 Pick a location (where they hang out, where they live, office, time of year, time period, etc.)

#5 The Meet Cute (when the characters meet for the first time)

#6 What keeps them physically together (why are they always around each other?)

    Have a the same goals

    Same workplace

    Competition?

#7 What keeps them apart? (an emotional block).

Even though they are together all the time, they cannot get together because of personal issues.

    #8 Relationship Milestones

Like stage → Love stage → You are the one~

    #9 Heat level

When will they hold hands? First base, second base, home run?

#10 Happily ever after or happily for now?

Marriage proposal, married, or bf gf for now??
