Lol, this narrator make the love making so unromantic! It sounds haunting and like a death sentence. Lolololol!

Heroine of this story is a spoiled unruly brat. Sappy stupid story, her behavior would not have been tolerated during the period of time it was set in. In real life she would have been locked away or beaten or both. I could not finish listening to it! First and only book I listen to or read by this author. Total rubbish! My opinion has nothing what so ever to do with the narrator's voice and everything to do with the author's interpretation of the medieval era!

I like the story but the narrator is horrible… exaggerated, almost mocking. Not a pleasure to listen to.

I always enjoy these stories and appreciate the upload. . I wish the sexual descriptions were fewer and that the reader was given the opportunity to use some imagination. The story is sound and doesn't need it.

I almost wish the narrator didn’t try to change her voice for different characters. It sounds so bad it’s distracting. If you have to narrate then just read it and leave it at that please.
Anyways, thanks for uploading. Can’t beat a free audiobook.

The original voice has potential but the acting is atrocious as well as the impressions. The whole style is like a really bad old fashioned Shakespearean play. Try again without all the affectations. I think it could be good

She's got a pleasant voice but the way she's reading the story is horrible.
Edit: Oh my. The voices she uses. I'm cringing. She should not be putting this on her resume.
Edit again: You know what it is? She draws out the last word of every… sennnntennnnnce. Awful.
Edit x3: I'm at work and this is what keeps my mind busy but I'm dying. What a terrible, terrible narrator!! Baron Geoffrey sounds like he's about 180 years old and all of the servants voices sound like they've got sinus infections. I could talk about this all day.

Many people don’t like the narrator. Although she can go a little too slow in some parts, I don’t mind overmuch.

I've listened to thousands of audiobook's in the last 35 40 years. So, there are 3 things that make a book awesome, the writer narrator and the director. The director was crap, narrator is always at the bottom of that list of who has say in any of it.

I wish the author had described more, (detail) about Beltaines (?) and Rupert's betrayal, in place of some of those uninteresting love scenes between Elizabeth and Jeffrey.

The male Lord voice is like that of a pirate, so funny in this story line. I always enjoy these storylines and genre's.

The narrator was quite good compared to others. There is absolutely no need to run a person down for going to the trouble for providing a good story.
If you havn't anything good to say then don't say anything at all.

Totally loved this one! And I adore anything narrated by the award-winning narrator Anne Flosnik! She's like an elfin friend, huddled up next to me inside the castle, telling me the story! She drawls me in every time. Great adventure and love story, Garwood never disappoints! Thank you very much!

This series was so awesome to read! And I still have the original paperback copies I bought years ago. I thought it might be fun to listen to the story…ugh!Nope. This narration is horrid. I tried. But thanks for the upload. these stories are really old and hard to find.

I could not connect to these characters for the life of me.. at the end they would be better off without each other, that’s how I feel. ‘Love ‘ is abused in this book to a painful extent, manipulating each other, ordering her around.. nothing to do with Love. Dysfunctional, emotionally abusive relationship. And I wonder why is it repeated over and over that the heroine is “clever”, she is very simple, not much depth to her character. The hero is an ass, in my opinion, abusive, egocentric, childish! Each time he says “come to me wife”, i just cannot, what kind of a “man” is this, weak and I cannot have any respect for such a character, the single thing that is manly about him, is his body. His behavior is pitiful, not manly at all. I simply couldn’t believe by the end that he is capable of love —> again, misusing the notion of “love” , using the word as another weapon to manipulate with. The conversations are painful to listen to, specially between the two main characters, each of them like a stupid ego-battle! Big words like ‘duty’, ‘loyalty’, ‘honor’ thrown around all over the place without actual depth and following through to the truest meaning of these words with actions.
I guess it could be a very accurate story of this particular time in history, and how people might have been, but I just couldn’t enjoy listening to this story, no satisfactory conclusion in sight for me. I’m surprised by all this because I absolutely adore ‘The Secret’ by Julie Garwood, there she knew how to create characters who have depth and a heroine who is Actually smart, and brutish hero, who is still able to feel love and show it!
