Finnikin of the rock has the absolute best friendships I have ever read. I read Locke Lamora based off your recs; and I don’t know if it’s because I have a nostalgic attachment to finnikin or because it’s genuinely better, but dang! Melissa marchetta makes you fall in love with the characters friendships. I love romance novels and this series has romance, but it was the friendships and the different characters interacting together that made me fall in love with this series.

Granted, you probably won’t love the ending, but I still think it’s worth your read if only for the friendships. And that no one ever talks about it. PLEASE! I need some finnikin love!!

Loved the Outsiders. Lies of Locke Lamora still in my TBR. I'll get to it~eventually. Just read Born a Crime by Trevor Noah and Fence vol 1 by C.S. Pacat, Baba Yaga's Assistant by MArika McCoola, and Ranma 1/2. Not really romance in any of them. Yet. I feel like there's going to be in Fence and in Ranma (since there is an arranged engagement). So far this month has been really enjoyable for reading. Just starting The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo. Adding a couple you recommended to my wishlist! Thanks again for your videos.

I don't mind bit of romance, but what I do mind is the classic love triangle trope

Locke's love interest doesn't actually come into the picture until book 3, just to let you know! She's a VERY polarizing character, so it will be really interesting to hear your thoughts on her!

The concept of Wonderstruck (dual perspective in half novel, half graphic novel) is also used in Thornhill. It's a teen horror story. It stays a bit on the surface here and there (but it's for teens, so yeah) but it's cool nonetheless! Plus there's no romance.

I’ve finally finished The Outsiders and OMG I LOVE IIIIIT! Thank you so much for the recommendation! It’s so beautiful, and so strong! I love their friendship, how they stick together and how terrified they are of being torn apart… it’s really beautiful! Again, thank you!

Thank you so much for this!! I’m not a fan of romance, mainly most of the tropes you see just annoy me. I don’t mind realistic romance/relationships but if I’m in the mood for that I will pick it up. If I am in the mood for Fantasy or hard hitting contemporary or basically ANYTHING else I don’t need the romance. Nothing more annoying than marketing a book as Fantasy and then finding out it’s basically a romance 🙄. I will be checking these out very soon for sure! ❤️

I picked up 'And every morning the way home gets longer and longer' bc of your rec in January and loved it. I soon moved on to 'The Deal of a Lifetime' and 'A man named Ove' and loved them, especially 'Ove'. You mentioned you want to read all Fredrik's books and I can't wait to see you pick these up and hear your thoughts on them. Fredrik Backman is now one of my favorite authors. I have 'Brit-Marie was here' on my tbr, but holding off until I read finish another book otherwise I will have completed 3 Fredrik Backman in row. I also read 'The Outsiders' in January and I adore it.

I just finished Beartown by Fredrik Backman, and looved it! Definitely one of my new favorite authors. (By the way, I did read And Everymorning the way Home Gets Longer and Longer when you first recommended it, and I loved it also.) I definitely plan to get to The Lies of Locke Lamora soon.

I love The Outsiders, one of my all time faves! I will say my other favorite of her books is Rumble Fish, definitely changes between reading as a preteen and an adult. A lot of depth in a very short book. 👌😁

I didn't give a feedback to federek Backman? I listened to the audiobook and it was really sad but I enjoyed because I could really relate to it since my grandma also forgot so many things the years leading up to her death. And even so I belonged to the few people she didn't forgot until her last week of life, my heart broke when she didn't recognize my big brother anymore.

I agree with you so much on the Bon romance thing. My crime series WIP won't have a love interest until closed to the end and it will be zero dramas and very realistic to my own experience. My time travel stand alone with haze zero romance. My MC's are three kick butt sister that don't need a man.

Oh how fitting!! I really don’t like romance in books and Vicious is my all time fav! I’ll be adding some of these to my TBR now. Thank you!

Another Victoria Schwab book that I would highly recommend that has friendship and not romance is this savage song . It has pure friendship between our two main characters and how they saw who they really were inside and helped each other and protected each other it is just the best friendship novel I have ever read

I don't romance IF it doesn't make the story/situation more difficult. But most of the books I read, when there is romance the villain will use it to their advantage and manipulate the protagonist which is expected, disappointing, and a major turn off for me. It makes the whole book crappy for some reason. That's why I avoided romance in fantasy/action/horror/thriller/Sci-fi books, they just get in the way.

I read every morning the way gets longer and longer , I did not cry and yet I felt the pain in a very subtle way it was like something I really want to read but can't find it in any book but this short book did it's job, I recommended this to my friend and she called me crying and say she is obsessed with the book and the writer . Thanks for your recommendation 😍😍

I just finished reading And Every Morning The Way Home Gets Longer And Longer to try and cope with my aunts mind slowly giving up before her body does. I absolutely loved the book, I think it will stay with me for a lifetime.
