LalaLovesLit August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am THIS IS THE VID I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR LalaLovesLit August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am Yesss I loved The Lovebirds! Everything about that movie was so fresh and interesting to me because it’s a romcom/action film with a black female lead?? And a Pakistani-American lead/love interest just wow 🧁 RieStJames August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am OMG IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VID 😭😭 Semilore Ayo-Gbenjo August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am Love is a Revolution was really good and I can’t wait for Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry 🧁🧁 Books and Sensibility August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am I loved Kristina Forest’s debut, I need to read the new one! I was just think about this topic recently. I don’t have a problem with IR romance in books on an individual basis but I get annoyed that IR gets more marketing hype. Non-biracial Black heroes are especially nonexistent in traditionally published romance. Rebecca Sacco August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am These all sound so good! Charming As A Verb is definitely on my TBR! 🧁 yasmin be readin August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am ‘i have crushes on anyone and everyone’ LMAO MEEEEE but also THANK U FOR MAKING THIS i am soooo tired of white love interests ugh i LOVEDDDD the lovebirds omg yes and your hair and corsetttt 😍😍😍 also you’re sooo right, u being into only white guys isn’t an excuse to just write white love interests? like why?? all these books sound sooo good 🧁 Tya Caldwell August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am I’m so glad you did this video. I find it so hard to find Black love books. All of the popular ones are interracial. I enjoy that the books show that Black Women are desirable to all men, but I need some Black love too. And so many of the covers are GORGEOUS 10/10! Aquil M August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am Great video! I definitely would like to check out ‘Open Water’ when it drops.🧁 sumrgrl100 August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am Hi 😊 I enjoyed this video. I totally agree that some "black romance" books are with white love interests. I went on one author's website because I was curious and MOST of her books were with white love interests. By the way, I totally have a sweet tooth too! 🧁😋 Alison Rose August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am 🍦🍦🍦 K L August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am Love this look! It's hilarious to me that people think interracial relationships only happen with white and POC, as if any other don't exist or Black love doesn't exist. It's great publishing is realizing these relationships happen finally but we have known and now it feel so oversaturated. For All Time, Finding Joy sounds interesting, and so does Love is a Revolution. Glad you enjoyed Now That I've Found You! The Henna Wars deals with two girls who aren't white either, I know I've mentioned it to you so many times but I really loved it and the author is so sweet and she has another book coming out this year I think that has another f/f romance and they aren't white either. I really love your viewpoints.🧁🧁 BeautyChemCam August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am Such a great video! When I read Legendborn this was something that really stood out to me, I really wanted to see more people of color being in love in all kinds of books. As you said, it's not that white love interests are wrong, but they are just everywhere. xD naturalforme August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am I feel you on this on SO MANY LEVELS. Fam I have nothing against interracial relationship but where are my black men. Lisa Bennett Bolekaja August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am I feel your pain. If I see one more celebrated "Black Romance" with a Black woman and white man I will spit. But those are IR romances (which act like non-White people can't be in IR romances with each other). It feels like a fetish to me if Black writers only write IR romances with white men hooked up with Black women. Black women indie writers are bringing the Black romances I like. Here's an article about it from Shondaland (ironically): https://www.shondaland.com/inspire/books/a34047527/indie-romance-is-big-business-why-arent-we-hearing-about-it/ Reading with KT August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am Great list and commentary! Thanks for compiling🍦 x Sacraal August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am my only problem with talia hibbert. I love her because she lets black women be loved and cared for even if they may be deemed "difficult", but enough white men. Jessica Bonique August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am Brenda Jackson makes great romance with asiatics in them Amber Lacy August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am 🧁🧁 Brandy Colbert, Liara Tamani, Ashley Woodfolk and Camyrn Garrett are YA authors who included Black love interests in there stories. Books Galore August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am 😭Thank you! I almost gave up, and have recently resorted to just rereading all of my ol' 90's/2000's faithfuls. lol Dana Days August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am ahahha the street sounds add to the vibes~~ :p:pYESSSSS i am outta here with the white love interests. like… "oh no i guess we can't have TOO much diversity!" yikes -_- Little Pisces Reading August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am ❤️❤️ Sissy Sissy August 2, 2021 at 10:57 am Girl yes, thank you so much for this list.
