When you were introducing the last 3 books and you were talking about shame I for sure though you were going to say that you read the first 3 books in the Ice Planet Barbarians series, and I honestly can’t tell if I’m relieved or disappointed that that’s not what they were lol

I've read Then She Was Gone and honestly loved it. Read it last year or possibly 2018 so don't remember how I felt whilst reading it but I don't think that I was expecting the end part until just before it played out

I loved Normal People, I can't wait to talk about it on my channel at the end of the month. I love the intricacy of their relationships and how tender the story is.I just started the show and I think they've done a great job keeping it true to the book.

should i leave? (my name is daisy) hahaha
Molly Jane
July 14, 2021 at 3:15 pm
Okay so regarding Daisy (granted I’ve read this book more than I can count because I teach it). So a few thoughts or lenses you could dissect her character in. One thought is she is clearly in an abusive relationship and so she’s trapped in the cycle of abuse. Another way I like to look at it is that although she’s not happy with Tom she is a woman in the 1920s so her option if she were to leave him is minimal and she also wants a life of luxury so she sacrifices her happiness to have material things. There’s also a few more or a mix of the above. I could go on and on about this 😂

OMG, I just love your passion for books!! There are two audio books I would like to recommend if you get time: (1) Blind by Jose Saramago and (2)The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. The audio is a better way to digest the book called Blind because of the nature and plot of the book. Anyhow, I hope you have a great week. I love your feedback on your recommendations. -Tara

Oh man! I'm kinda bummed you called them cheesy little romances, but I get it because the genre doesn't get respect – in part because of the covers. But it's actually a fascinating history where women written romances (especially ones include sex) are looked down on as "not REAL writing" because… they're mass market, they're cheap, they can be bought in grocery stores, etc.
If you want to branch out within the historical romance genre, a few suggestions I have:
– The Highwayman by Kerrigan Byrne. This is a darker romance and contains violence, on page murder, discussion of past (prison) assault of minors. A woman who was childhood friends with a boy sent to prison is kidnapped by someone who knew him, saying she's in danger.
– The Duke Who Didn't by Courtney Milan. This features a half-Chinese duke and a young Chinese woman in the Victorian era. It deals with systemic racism but is surprisingly sweet and lighthearted in both the romance (childhood sweethearts/friends) and family relationships.
– The Rakess by Scarlett Peckham. Late Georgian era (1790's) that centers on a "fallen woman" who is writing her memoirs. Twist on the male rake trope.

I couldn’t get into “Normal People”. To me, the writing was terrible. Grammatical and sentence structure sucked.

Thank you so much for showing that three romance books in the end. I love watching YouTube and it always looks like everyone is either reading young Adult or whatever books where it is totally fine that there is steam and love and cliche etc. Or the one that read books that are listed on shortlists and stuff. And I always feel bad when I read a classic like Hemingway or a really good thriller or drama and then love to lift the mood with the cheesiest airport grab I can find 😂 that was so good to see 🥰 love your videos 😉

ahh thank u for saying that normal people was not good, i also gave it a 2/5 and was so confused why people liked it. there was so much potential to explore different things about the characters but they just swept by it
